Veterinarians
Beverly Fritzler, DVM
Dr. Beverly Fritzler is a native of central Oklahoma. She attended Oklahoma State University for both her undergraduate and graduate degrees, which she received in 1981 and 1986, respectively. Upon graduation, she joined Dr. Duke Blackford and Rose Rock Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Fritzler purchased the practice after Dr. Blackford's retirement in 1990.
Dr. Fritzler's professional interests include preventive health care, pain management, physical rehabilitation and conditioning, surgery, and theriogenology. She is a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist, completing her certification from the Canine Rehabilitation Institute. Dr. Fritzler also has specialized training in Canine Massage Therapy.
Dr. Fritzler's goal is to provide a superior service and the most cutting edge modalities to increase the diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities that we can provide our patients. She feels that the education of the staff is very important in this goal and seeks educational opportunities for herself and all of the staff.
In her spare time, Dr. Fritzler enjoys traveling, boating, genealogy, photography, and quiet time at the lake with her family and friends. Dr Fritzler is married to Harry and has two children, Bryce and Breawna. She likes to assist her daughter in showing and training their Chihuahuas and Weimaraners, and enjoys spending time with all of her pets.
Dr. Fritzler is a member of local and national veterinary associations, including AVMA, OVMA, COVMA, AAHA, and VHMA, as well as special interest associations including the American Association of Rehabilitation Veterinarians, International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management, and Society for Theriogenology.
Laura Blazek, DVM
Dr. Blazek was born and raised in Oklahoma. She attended Oklahoma State University and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. After graduation, she moved to St. Louis, Missouri and worked in small animal hospitals. Towards the end of 1999, she returned to Oklahoma to be closer to family and worked as a relief veterinarian for a number of small animal hospitals in the Oklahoma City area, including an emergency hospital.
Dr. Blazek, whose professional interests include infectious diseases, particularly tick-borne illness, and wound closure, joined Rose Rock Veterinary Hospital in March 2003. She decided to become a veterinarian in grade school and enjoys knowing she has made a difference in pets' lives, and in their families' lives. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association, and she is an active member of her church.
Dr. Blazek is married to Eric, a website designer and computer programmer, and together they have two children. Joshua, 11, is a Boy Scout and enjoys reading and building things. Elizabeth, 9, likes reading, writing and crafts of all kinds. Dr. Blazek, who enjoys gardening, reading, baking, hiking and camping and spending time with her children, shares her home with a domestic short hair named Crystal.
Deborah Schueler, DVM
Dr. Schueler was born and raised in the south suburbs of Chicago. At a young age, her family's dog was very ill and after watching a veterinarian save his life, she knew that she wanted to be able to help people in the same way. She attended the University of Illinois and received her Bachelor's degree in Biology in 2000. She continued her studies at the same school and in the spring of 2002, she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating, Dr. Schueler practiced small animal medicine in the Chicago area for several years before moving to Oklahoma in 2005. Her professional interests include senior wellness, internal medicine and ultrasound.
Dr. Schueler joined Rose Rock Veterinary Hospital in the spring of 2006. She currently lives in Edmond with her husband Bill and their four-legged children Rebel, Tilly, Pink, Zack, Cricket and Phoenix. Her outside interests include traveling, scrapbooking, reading, baking, music and spending time with family and friends. Dr. Schueler is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association and Central Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association.
Rebecca Poillion, DVM
Dr. Rebecca Poillion was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana. She attended Louisiana State University, where she graduated from Veterinary Medical School in 2008. She then practiced for two years as an Associate Veterinarian at Durango Animal Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. During her academic career, she completed an internship at the Houston Zoo Veterinary Hospital where she developed an interest in exotic animal medicine. Her professional interests include surgery, internal medicine and working with small mammals, birds, reptiles and aquatic animals.
Dr. Poillion joined the Rose Rock team in June of 2010. She moved to Norman to be closer to family. She currently lives with her sister, Jessica, and her 6-year-old niece, Annie. She has a small herd consisting of four rescued mutts named Kiona, Scott, Loki, and Scout, two cats named Fletch and Elwood, and an Anolis Lizard named Echo. In her spare time she enjoys listening to live music, cycling, hiking, skiing, reading, and watching movies. Dr. Poillion is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association.
Melissa Gillock, DVM
Dr. Melissa Gillock was born and raised in central Oklahoma. She spent four years in San Antonio, Texas, earning her undergraduate degree in biology from Trinity University. After working in research labs throughout college, she decided to pursue her original childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian and returned to her home state, receiving her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University in the spring of 2011. Her professional interests include ophthalmology and internal medicine.
Dr. Gillock joined Rose Rock Veterinary Hospital in June of 2011, shortly after marrying her husband Richard and settling in Norman. Their family consists of Samson the rescued mutt, Frito the Chihuahua, and a tortoiseshell cat named Junebug. In addition to spending time with her critters, Dr. Gillock enjoys running, hiking, reading, knitting, traveling, playing the piano, and going on walks with Richard and the dogs. Dr. Gillock is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association.
